REVIEW: NO TIME FOR GOODBYE BY LINWOOD BARCLAY

OVERVIEW
No Time for Goodbye (No Time For Goodbye #1)Fourteen-year-old Cynthia woke one morning to discover that her entire family, mother, father, brother had vanished. No note, no trace, no return. Ever. Now, twenty-five years later, she'll learn the devastating truth

REVIEW
This was my first Barclay novel and it sure didn't disappoint! I was gripped from beginning to end; No time for goodbye is a fast paced novel and the drama factor of this novel was out of this world. Personally this is one of my favorite reads of 2016 due to the awesome plot-line and the portrayal of the characters. I particularly liked how Barclay left every chapter  with a cliffhanger to keep me reading which worked as i read half the book in a whole day because of Barclays phenomenal writing.  Barclay also left a huge twist near the end which was very unexpected. I wasn't very keen on how Barclay gave the answer of what happened to Cynthia's family a bit early as he could used these pages to build up the tension more. But all in all "no time for goodbye" has defiantly built up Barclays reputation and I will certainly be buying more of his books in the future.

Analysis

Pros= Plot line/ cliffhangers/characters
Cons= Gave away answer to the mystery to early

Review

The Night Circus is an enchanting, mysterious, gripping,DETAILED book.
The reason i put detailed in capital letters is because in my 6 years of reading books i haven't come across a book as detailed as this. Morgenstern should have focused on the plot line more than the detail of the circus which made my enjoyment of this book plummet. Don't get me wrong, I do like a description of a place or person in a book to give me a portrayal of a place, person or thing but when it takes over the plot line and reduces my enjoyment. If Morgenstern had decided to reduce the detail side of things this book would have lots of potential. On the other hand the plot line is incredibly unique and was the main reason i finished the book in 2 days.

Star Rating and Pros and Cons
3/5 STARS-  Pros-plotline
                     Cons- Detail

BOOK REVIEW: THE HONEST TRUTH BY DAN GEMEINHART

The Honest TruthOVERVIEW

Mark is like anyone else his age. He loves his dog, his best friend Jessie and hiking.
But he also has cancer.

When his illness returns, he decides he's had enough of hospitals and treatments. So Mark runs away from it all, with just his small dog for company- and a big plan to climb to the top of Mount Rainier, even if it's the last thing he does...

Review

Wow! I expected a lot from the honest truth and it's safe to say it delivered. Gemeinhart has wrote a remarkable story expressing the importance of life and portrays a truly important message that we are never truly alone in our struggles. One weakness of his book had to be the sheer size of it. The book could have gone on much longer and into more detail about Mark's mountain mission as I felt the trek up the mountain was squeezed in near the end of the book. One high point of the book was the way Gemeinhart portrayed and gave a stereotype to every single character which let the reader connect with the character and gave them a thorough insight into what they were going through. Overall I would rate "The Honest Truth" 4 out of 5 stars. I didnt rate it 5 out of 5 stars because of the length of the book.
